On 21 August 2019, the meeting of the Working Group on the New Financial Perspective 2021-2027 operating within the national network “Partnership: Environment for Development” was held. The meeting was dedicated to the issues regarding the possibility of supporting water and wastewater management as part of the future financial perspective.
The debate, in addition to the Network members such as the representatives of the Ministry of the Environment, the Ministry of Investment and Economic Development, marshal’s offices, the General and regional directorates for environmental protection, was also attended by the invited guests – representatives of the Ministry of Maritime Economy and Inland Navigation, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, National Water Management Authority, National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management, as well as the President of the Polish Waterworks Chamber of Commerce, who gave an interesting presentation on safety related to water supply, protection of water intakes as well as protection against cyberattacks.
After the presentations, the Group members took part in a discussion on the possibility of supporting wastewater management in the future Cohesion Policy, so that this support was consistent, would fulfil the obligations arising from, inter alia, the Directive 91/271/EEC concerning urban wastewater treatment, sludge management and would contribute to the promotion of renewable energy sources.
They also discussed the possible forms, principles and scope of financing for water supply tasks and a proposal for a demarcation line between the individual national and regional programmes.
During the meeting, it was established that the WG members would prepare a position to support the WG CP2 operating at the Ministry of Investment and Economic Development during negotiations with the EC on the scope of support for water and wastewater management under the new financial perspective.
